Once again the design world descends to the rain swept streets of Milan to look for new and exciting trends in design. We have been working closely with Nigel Coates to help him realize and promote his exhibition Casa Reale at Entratalibera Gallery for Salone del Mobile 2012. The installation showcases Coates's new designs with leading Italian brands including: AV Mazzega, Fratelli Boffi, Edizioni Poltronova, Slamp, Varaschin and Terzani.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue that unfolds the narrative of the installation. Exploring the similarly contradicting meanings of the word Reale - 'Real' and 'Royal' - Coates plays with the hyper-realism of a shabby Milanese interior contrasting it with an imaginary royal residence full of luxurious objects.
The cascading Angel Falls chandelier is heart stoppingly beautiful setting the tone for this remarkable space. Other highlights from the collection are the Giglio, Corona and Cuore sconces for Slamp which are a new direction of production for this lighting company. And the Reale Credenza by Fratelli Boffi is bound to become a classic.
